The new version of the SAP data security solution comes with extended protection and encryption features to secure data that are accessed through distributed content servers across the world

Lucerne, 13 November 2017: SECUDE, SAP partner and leading data security provider specializing in security for SAP® software, today announced the release of HALOCORE version 4.4. The new release incorporates a special feature that extends HALOCORE’s protection features to common use cases of SAP Knowledge Provider (KPro), using distributed and local content servers. With HALOCORE 4.4 companies will not only inhibit and monitor the export of sensitive documents from distributed SAP content servers, but will also be able to secure them with strong encryption technologies from Microsoft.

Access Control and Protection for Data that is Needed Outside SAP
HALOCORE is the only Microsoft AIP partner solution in the market that leverages Microsoft’s Azure Information Protection (AIP) to encrypt every document that is exported from SAP on the server level before it arrives on any device. Using the automated HALOCORE® classification engine, granular authorizations and user rights are assigned to sensitive data, allowing easy and secure exchange of documents between employees, partners or suppliers. The solution also blocks strictly confidential files that are not allowed to egress from the SAP system and enables automated monitoring of the background data exchange, for example via RFC, IDoc or web service, between SAP and Microsoft applications.

Extended File Protection Across Content Servers Worldwide
The SAP content server is the core of SAP’s document storage and management concept. It provides the technical infrastructure for all document-centric applications and business scenarios that do not require long-term document archiving. To support users across various locations most companies do not only use one server, but a number of distributed servers. Each time an SAP client requests a file for download, access management is handled by the central SAP server (NetWeaver), but the file is provided by the local content server directly to the client. This means that users who have rights to view and download a file can also edit, share and download it. This leaves room for security issues.

The new release of HALOCORE helps extend the PROTECT module to all SAP KPro content servers across geographies and thus expands SAP access control shield for documents and files beyond its boundaries. HALOCORE’s PROTECT module intercepts data being downloaded and applies fully customizable classification labels to the document metadata. SAP KPro users would not notice any change in the usual process, except that documents that they have access to now are completely protected. With the new function HALOCORE, thus, becomes the only solution on the market that is highly integrated with both SAP and Microsoft AIP and offers end-to end protection of sensitive documents across locations.

“This is a logical extension to SECUDE’s HALOCORE and part of our product development roadmap,” says Holger Hügel, Vice President Products and Services. “Today, business, operations and their enabling technology is all about collaboration. However, that collaboration should not come at the cost of an organization’s reputation. Data lost or stolen can lead to irreparable damages in terms of brand and the bottom line. HALOCORE 4.4 ensures that SAP data is secure within and during transit – also when they are accessed from different locations and via distributed servers.”
